New to this - There's too much info - Can someone break it down?

Hi All,

I have spent a few hours looking through the forum and watching youtube videos, I am amazed at the amount of work that has gone in to theming. Fair play to all you of you. In my opinion it is a very poor reflection on WD that they haven’t used more elements of your work in their default Mochi theme.

However I find the amount of info confusing and I think the community needs a thread for super Newbs like me. I am probably like most out there, in that I’m using the most up to date firmware and just want my interface to look as cool as possible with the least amount of work as possible.

Can someone provide or link to

  1. A simple ‘How to’ change a theme on the WD live hub.

  2. Some definitions of key terms. eg. Moviesheet etc… and issues surronding theme.

  3. A list of the most popular themes with any additional info like the firmware version required to use them.

  4. A link to any older version of WD firmware required eg 20717

I’d like for this thread to be very very simple. I don’t expect anyone person to answer everything. I just think it’d be a great resource if everyone chips in a bit. Remember when posting explain as if you’re talking to a 5 year old, that has spent his life in a cave and is only just getting used to the first world.

To change the theme, go to Setup/Appearance/User Interface theme.

This ivideo is for the outdated method of displaying moviesheets on the live hub. Its no longer recommended.

best way that i am currently using is to use local backdrops (‘moviesheets’):

create the moviesheet e.g moviesheet.jpg

and add a backdrop tag for the concerned movie

e.g. The A Team.mkv

        The A Team.mkv_sheet.jpg   —> moviesheet

        THE A Team.jpg  —>thumbnail

        The A Team.xml

edit the xml file, in this case The A Team.xml

look for the first backdrop tag

and add this before that tag:

THE A Team.jpg
