New WD 2TB my passport NOT DETECTED at all. Help!

I just bought 2TB passport. it is not detected at all by win7. the light on drive keeps blinking. no detection at all. no question marks in device manager or driver failure errors. I even tried restart with device connected but to no avail. plz help

i am using dell inspiron n5010 with core i3 processor and 2 gb ram

Hello, always use the USB cable that came with the Passport, also avoid using USB hubs. Another thing you can try is to connect the passport to another computer.

Sometimes connecting to a USB port on the back works better.

i am using the cable that came with my passport. i also tried connecting it to my brother’s laptop; it was not detected. His 1 TB passport is being detected by my laptop using my cable as well. i am not using any usb hubs.

i personally think there is some problem with the devivce itself. cable has been checked and is working fine with other passports. other passports are being detected on mine.

my bro brought it as a gift from saudi. i think he will have to take it back to reclaim warranty.

any advice/ non-destructive troubleshooting tips will be highly appreciated
