New wd my cloud

I would like to know the proper procedure if I was to buy a more bigger WD My cloud Storage. I currently have 4TB one and in the event I run out of room and get a My Cloud Mirror one. What are the proper steps to remove old device and connect new device to my WD Cloud Account? Also would I have to redownload the WD my sync to work with the new device?

Thank you

you could keep the cloud you have, and then attack an USB3 HD to the USB3 port on your cloud. I have 4 USB3 hds attacked to my 4tb cloud using a USB3 hub.

You can have multiple My Clouds on the same local network provided each has their own unique name. You can have multiple My Clouds attached to the same MyCloud.com web portal account. Just make sure to use the same email address in the new My Cloud when configuring a User’s remote access within the Dashboard. Within the MyCloud.com web portal one can switch between the My Cloud devices associated with the account. Same goes for other WD software like the My Cloud Desktop program and the mobile apps for iOS and Android. For WD Sync you can add additional My Cloud devices through the Settings option. Select the current My Cloud from the drop down box and you will be presented with the option to add or remove a device. If you select “add” you will get a screen that will show the My Cloud devices on the local network, simply select the new My Cloud and continue through the rest of the setting screens.

As the previous poster indicated one can simply attach an external USB hard drive to the USB port on the back of the My Cloud to increase the storage space. This is a cheaper option than buying a My Cloud Mirror. And as previously indicated you can attach more than one external USB hard drive by using a USB hub. Each USB drive shows up as a separate Share. The My Cloud Dashboard (at least on v4.x versions) will reflect the increased storage space of external USB hard drives if one enables USB Content Availability on the Dashboard > Settings > General page.

If you have not already done so you may want to read the My Cloud User Manual (http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/?id=439&type=25), in particular Chapter 12 Connecting a USB Hard Drive for more information.
