New WD SATA drive displayed as IDE in BIOS. Please Help

Hello,

Someone . Please help me to resolve this issue.

2 days ago I got new replaced SATA HD WD5000AAKX - WD Blue / SE / SE16 (SATA II) -500 GB . My problem is  its displaying as IDE in BIOS .

Here is my configuration:

My mobo is ASRock -Wolfdale1333-D667.

IDE - 80 GB Samsung - Master - windows 7 installed
IDE - DVD writer - Slave

RAM -2GB DDR2

Its displaying as below while booting. I have already set Enhanced option in BIOS to detect SATA drive.

In BIOS SATA drive display as…

Hello,

Please note that the WD5000AAKX is a sata 3, 6 Gb/s drive and that your bios might not be recognizing the drive properly.

As I can see your motherboard does not support SATA 3,  6 Gb/s so in this case, you will need to put a jumper on the location 5-6 to set the drive as a SATA 2, 3 Gb/s.

Please let us know if it works for you.

Hello,

Thank for your reply.  But unfortuantelly it did not work. :confounded:

What i did is removed IDE disk drive and IDE DVD writer.  then  booted pc with only SATA disk with jumper settings as you suggested . ( see attached pic)

But still SATA disk is detected as IDE :frowning:

I very much frustrated. Please guide me.

Look at page 33 if the manual for your motherboard.

It looks like your BIOS is not set correctly for SATA modes.

Oh, In case my bios is not set for new SATA disk then what is best option for me ?

Please suggest something :confounded:

Someone please reply me to solve this. Do I need to create RMA again ???

Was your PREVIOUS drive also a WD5000AAKX?

Yes, Accrording to my product registration record, my previous drive was also WD5000AAKX.

So that mean new drive is falty ?? :confounded:

No, I think your product registration record indicates the replacement drive.  Not necessarily the old one.

Confirm the serial number on the registratioin record to see if that is also the new drive.

I Verified by My old HDD and new HDD both models are same WD5000AAKX-00ERMA0 by checking serial numbers.

Finally i decided to give up and decided to create RMA for falty drive .

Hope new drive will work fine in my system.
