Okay guys, please excuse my ignorance, but I have been messing with this thing now for 2 days and still having problems. I have a PC (htpc) that is in one room of my house with a bunch of ripped DVDs and Bluray movies on it. I have just under 1TB of movies. But I wanted to watch them in all rooms/tvs of my house, so I picked up this WDTV Hub to put in my bedroom. If it works out, gonna get one for living room also.
Anyway, hooked it up, but didnt have ethernet cable run at first, so I transfered all my movies (were stored on an external usb HD) to the WDTV Hub… it worked great, been watching movies. But since I didnt have ethernet cable, I couldnt sync with my HTPC for other videos, music, etc.
so today I ran the ethernet cable and it worked right away. Did the firmware update and installed the WD Discovery, mapped the network drive (z:) and can now access my WDTV Hub from my computer. I even went in and cleaned up and changed names, etc… So far so great…
But here is my issue. I cannot seem to access the files on my computer from my WDTV, just other way around. How do I do that? I right clicked on specific folders on my computer to share with workgroup, but still not there on WDTV… Im sure this is something really simple and basic, but I cant figure it out.
I guess same thing with a 2nd HUB… im thinking of getting another HUB for the living room and will then have another 1TB of space to fill up. I want to know how to make both HUBs play files off each other’s hard drives and both play off HD of computer.
Okay guys, think I finally figured it out on my own. I have to press the RED button on the remote and choose what desitination I want to choose from and was on internal… so i chose my HTPC and it works…
SOOOOO… my only question is now… is there a way for it to choose both internal and my network PC BOTH so I dont have to always switch back from one from another? I have movies and files on both and would like to just choose VIDEOS and see ALL my videos on all drives/places

really?? that really stinks!!! im gonna have movies on my PC, and 2-3 different hubs and going to be a PITA searching through them all finding the right movie I want to watch
You could name each hub like A-F and the next hub G-N and separate them out like that, so if you know the name of the movie you want to watch you can just search that hub…
or I bet you could have some sort of a system setup… like have your pc sync all of the hubs to a specific folder on your pc… then share that pc folder to your hubs…
so your hubs just basically act like external network drives for your pc and then each hub sees all the files on your pc…
im having problem figuring out the sharing folder thing… my hub is finding these folder that i have no idea why or even where some are located. i did the net share on command prompt and they dont show up there…
is it possible to just delete my workgroup and start all over? i only want to share like 1-2 folders total
