No sound - bug fix ETA?

Hi.  I have a WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (firmware version 2.02.32 - Part Number WDBHG70000NKB).

Very often and indeterministically, there is no sound when using it to play online media.  Netflix, MLBtv and YouTube are application examples via the Services menu.  If I play content (via the Videos menu) with media connected directly via USB, sound is fine; all is well in the world. This tells me this is not an HDMI connection or handshake problem or issue with the receiver…but a bug with the WD TV Live software (as it happens across multiple contect applications yet works fine with direct connect media).

I see from other posts that others have run into this problem before.

Can WD folks please comment on this and advise if you acknowledge this bug and when it may be fixed in a forthcoming firmware update?  Has anyone found any workarounds other than powering off/on/off/on multiple times until finally it works (until the next time it decides to not work)?  Thanks.

Hello,

We have passed this along to support.

I have the exact same issue.  I’ve found that pressing the mute button on the remote brings the audio back for the remainder of the show I’m watching.  Though this is just a temporary fix as it all too often “mutes” itself again for the next show I watch or after powering down for the night.

i hope you mean  " intermittently "

any fix to this?  I just started experiencing the same problem out of the blue.  My firmware is the same as yours but it was working fine.  I get audio when streaming movies from my networkshare but no audio through any other service

Just to follow-up…  I had worked with WD Support in March to help resolve this.  While they were fanastic and super helpful, it didn’t solve the problem.  They had suggested some Setting changes, which at the time, worked at that single moment, but I’ve had this problem occur a dozen times since.

To summarize my workaround: Play a .VOB file first on my direct connect media (via USB), then go to Services to use MLB.tv or Netflix.  I’ve just gotten into the habit of launching a .VOB file just for a second to get sound going, quit, then go to Services and life is good.  Thanks.
