I ordered a WD TV Live and it arrived and I set it up this morning. It looks wonderful, except there is no sound. I tried playing video from various sources like the weather section and youtube and the video is fine, just no audio. I’m not super skilled in electronics but I did make sure to plug the red, yellow, and white cables into the correct part on my tv. lol I also tried playing with the audio settings and changing from stereo to digital and that did nothing. It did a big “firmware” update when I first powered the device up. I tried unplugging and starting it back up that way. Nothing.
I really do not know what to do.
Please advise! Thank you for your time.
For the connection you chose, Composite, the Audio Output must be set to “Stereo.” You should be aware that with this connection, you will NOT get HD video or multi-channel sound (stereo only).
On the off chance that you connected to your TV using BOTH the composite input AND an HDMI input, (trust me, I’ve seen such odd things by some of the friends that I’ve helped) unplug the Composite cable from the TV and the WD player. Audio would be passed through the HDMI cable.
If you’re using an Audio / Video receiver or other external audio system, there’re other options. Let us know what you have.
If everything appears correctly configured and you still don’t get sound, try connecting some other audio source to the composite input on your TV; you don’t need video, just connect to the Red and White inputs for audio (the Yellow is for video.)
Thanks! It’s all working now. Appreciate your reply.
