Non WD Red drives?

Hi,

Anyone tried Non WD Red drives in the EX2 ?

How did tehy perform?

Can you still encrypt them ??

I have an old 320gb (wd) drive That I plan to use with the diskless Ext2

Hello,

I don’t think that the 320gb drive are supported as per the list here:  http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=1180#Tab2&Tab9

But any drive that is compatible with the EX 2 would still have all the features that comes with the drive.

I recently purchased a second EX2.  My first one was the 8TB red drive model.  The second diskless.  I put two small third party SSD drives (6G SATA).  Other than awkwardness of the 2.5" drives and trying to line up the SATA connectors in a 3.5" bay, they work fine.  

I would think most recent drives will work.  Of course support may be limited and you accept that risk.
