Only folders with Public Access option enabled visible on client apps? (WD Photos, WD My Cloud)

The scenrio I am thinking of is this:

I have folder A and folder B, user X and user Y.

I have set Public access to Off for folder A, and I have given both users  (X & Y) full access.

I set Public access to On for folder B.

When I access my device from the client apps (WD My Photos - iPhone app, My Cloud - iPhone app, WD My Cloud - desktop app for Windows) I only see folder B. Are only public access folders visible on these apps? Can’t I supply some credentials to login as user X and also see folder A?

Is this a known limitation? Doesn’t this introduce a high security risk… ? In order to be able to access files through cloud, do I need to make them public? Doesn’t this mean that any device that joins my network will also be able to access these files?

I cannot reproduce the behavior you are seeing. In my case, when logging as user X, i can see A&B. Same as when using user B credentials.

Not sure what is going on.

Is the access correct when you access the disk through network shares on your private network?

You are right. I totally missinterpeted it initially.

On the iPhone apps - I didn’t refresh, and I didn’t notice that it automatically logged me in with my WD My Cloud account.

On the Desktop App - this is what confused me the most, was that with the initial start, you get the public view. You need to use the "connect manually " option to login as a different user.

In the end it all works fine. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
