I have over 800 photos on my iPhone and decided to create folders in MyCloud so it would be easier for me to keep track of them and I could delete them from my iPhone and gain some storage space. They upload all mixed up and out of order in their individual folders. So say in my “Minnesota” folder, I have pics taken Friday - Monday and it uploads a pic from Sunday, then Friday, then Monday, then Saturday and so on… it’s not in order of when I took the pics. I want ALL of the Friday pics, then ALL of the Saturday pics… why would it mix them up? Am I missing a setting somewhere? I don’t see any other posts with this issue. *This is the first thing I’ve attempted to do with MyCloud so I am not very savvy yet.*
I’m pretty sure they show up by the time they were saved to the MyCloud, rather than the date taken. This really impacts usability and could do with a firmware upgrade.
Is there some way that the mycloud would know in what order you took your pictures.
How are you uploading them? Via WD Photos? – and what are you using to view them?
RichUK - There’s usually an EXIF metadata tag that includes the date/time that the picture was taken. But I’ve never relied upon that data… all of my digital cameras just save the pics in sequential order with filename indexing, so the order is preserved merely by sorting by filename.
Not to speak for the OP…but my experience is that if you upload photos from your iPad or iPhone using WD Photos, the app renames them as it saves them to the NAS. It also puts a “date modified / date created” on the photos that is equivalent to when it stored the photos to the NAS, maybe because the name is changed when the app saves them?
If you use windows explorer, you can add “date taken” to the view and sort by that field. If you use WD Photos, the photos are all jumbled up and not displayed by the date taken field.
I just assumed the photos would upload in order the same way they are in order when I download them to my computer or FaceBook. They don’t mix them up, so why would MyCloud? I’m just confused by this.
As Tony asked, what are you using to upload them. Is it the WD photos app.
And again as he asked what you using to view them.
How are your photos named on your iPhone and are they named the same on the mycloud.
In general devices cannot put your photos in a particular order unless they use the naming of the photos or can read the exif data within the photo.
