I’m just a few weeks in to owning a My Cloud Home, and I’m already beginning to think I made a huge mistake buying it. No web browsing, dlna, or smb access. I can only access it directly through a mapped drive on my pc. Otherwise I’m left with the android app on my phone and tablet, which are no good as they don’t have an integral media player, and sending music one song at a time to an external media player, is no fun at all,or Plex. And therein lies the main problem. For some reason Plex has just stopped working. I tried to use it last night and it couldn’t find my My Cloud. I ended up just pulling the power cable and restarting it, but even then it wasn’t found by Plex .I got so fed up with it I just went to bed.
So I tried again this morning. This time I got a message on my phone, that the “server” hadn’t been claimed and to to claim it again. I did this, and things started working again. Or so I thought. I was able to browse through all of my music, but couldn’t play any of it. My pc Plex player still can’t find the server. The pc media server can find the My Cloud but throws up errors when trying to play anything.
When I first set the My Cloud up on my pc, when I browsed the mapped drive, Plex and its subfolders had green dots against them. These are gone now too. And the folder hierarchy of the My Cloud is different in Plex than on the Plex folder on the My Cloud. Where the drive shows the subfolders as Shared Home Videos, Shared Home Videos, Shared Music, Shared Photos, and Shared TV Shows, the Plex server shows them as Home Videos, Music, Music Videos, Photos, and TV Shows. So I can’t even find videos I’ve stored in the Shared Movies folder.
Is there any way to get Plex working as it should without having to wipe the drive and start from scratch?
