This is a poll on mynet router owner satisfaction. Please give a +1, 0, or -1. Please make an explanation of your model type and likes/dislikes so WD fully understands why you love or hate your router. My intent is to demonstrate to WD how their users actually feel. Please keep the thread on topic.
N900 non central
-1 on my old router due to lockups and numerous issues
0 on my rma router to replace the above. I have achieved 6 days with no issues with all features on (fingers crossed)
Purchased a My Net N900 Central in Feb. IT worked OK for about 6 weeks. Then the internal drive went missing. Now it doesn’t connect to the Internet. Checked with my ISP - no problem with my cable connection.
Opened a problem with WD 5 days ago, and I’ve received no response.
My rating: -1

N900 router
Also had disconnection and other issues in the beginning and but WD handled my issues quickly and professionally. I’m on my 2nd n900 like many others, but haven’t had an issue with it in months.
Full disclosure: I also do beta testing for them and so I may be a little bias.
My mark is "0 ".
After a lot of trial and error, returning one router, downgrading to 1.4.11 and buying a laptop cooler, I got the My Net N900 Central to work as a router on a consistent basis.
I disabled all the bells and whistles, though. Even so the maximum transfer rate to the internal HDD is 5MB/s and that is why I would not give the +1 mark.

Router is not hot but locks up often (so Im not buying any fans) with all indicators steady blue. Resets wireless (interrrupts traffic). The only solution that WD provides is to reset to factory defaults. Tried latest and rollback firmwares - both have the same issue. Tried disabling all extra features - same result… One more attempt for WD support to fix the issue, then RMA it back.
Thx, Serge.
Ths router deserves a big fat “-1”.
I have a MyNet 900 that constantly loses connection, shuts down, unable to access the router when it crashes without rebooting it, it gets very hot… yeah its sitting on a desk. so there is not excuse for the heat.
It is now being used a high priced swicth connected to a very cheap DLink that is 100 times superior.
Stay away … very far!

It funny you should say that, one of the selling points that attracted me to the MyNet900 was the extra LAN ports. So yeah, it makes a great switch and wireless AP, but a rather poor router. -1
my router: my net n900 2TB
my rating: -1
reason for the rating: THE WORST ROUTER I have ever owned. Weekly drops in service requiring a manual power down. This is my second unit since WD sent me a replacement. I have used and owned both netgear and cisco/linksys routers in the past and these gave me the best service very reliable and NO DROPS! I bought this pricely poor performing WD router because of its “fast track plus” and internal hard drive. Both terrible! e.g. with fast track plus enabled the router drops connection every 3 hours with use or no use. The hard drive sometimes is visible to my devices and sometimes not. Oh yeah this includes the routers web interface manager. TERRIBLE! I’d change to linksys but I’ve forked over so much cash for this router that I can’t at the moment!
I give the myNet900 central a -1 score. I would give it a - 10 since it was worse than my belkin router it replaced. The best i was told to do was reset the router to factory defaults. The only reason i havent replaced it yet because i forked over a pretty penny for it but i will definitely not be buying this brand again. Maybe we will get lucky and WD fixes the problem with some firmware update, either way im not going to bother to rma the unit since i most likely still have the same problem. Im just gonna turn off the wireless and use my belkin as an access point attached to it and see how that works since i think the issue lies in the wireless radio
All sores are -1 are 0 !!!
For me it’s also -1. I have replaced it with my old router a simple level one. I have installed the same configuration and it works fine for 4 weeks now.
The WD drop internet every day, with a few teenagers at home it was the most frustrating thing in the home! So now I have a box on my bureau with 150euro worthless electronic garbage. I have ordered an airport extreme. For my WD will forever means “150 euro lost!”
+1
For me, it has been working flawlessly for months now. My usecase: Central router of home network, mostly wired connections, no VoIP or other bandwidth-critical applications. For NAS, I’ve got a couple Synology devices (with WD disks), so no need to use the router for that task.
I have encountered some errors, namely password reset to default and web interface being inaccessible, but both only once yet.

Ektus.
I’ts a -1. I bought the WD900 because of all the features it offered and the fresh new look. But it’s not ready for prime time–too many buggy problems. Can’t even use alternate DNS servers correctly, which you can do on the simplist of routers. It does have good range on the 2.4 Ghz band–if you can keep it running.
I’d have to say for now -1.
I just got an RMA on my MyNetCentral 2tb just a few days ago because mine wasn’t staying connected, especially during large data transfers to the internal HD. To my surprise after installed the new one I transferred 1.12TB of data to the HD(took nearly 2 days) and the router never lost connection or anything! I’ve still yet to see the fan on the bottom of my router kick on(is it even a working fan or novelty?) BTW, I received this router with firmware version 1.04.11 if this helps anyone figure out which firmware is more stable. Anyways if it continues to work flawlessly I’ll be switching my rating even though I’m not happy about paying for shipping to send this old router back.
-2 mynet n900 (no HDD)
Keeps dropping connection. Upgraded firmware, rolled back firmware. Don’t matter
-1 N900central… Its seriously a piece of GARBAGE. Luckily I was able to take advantage of Best Buys 60 day reward zone return policy and I got rid of this. Cant say I didnt try but the hours of my life I spent trying to get this thing to function properly over the past 6 weeks I will never get back. It dropped channels it dropped connections it locked up… i tried 2 different ones with the same results
Do yourself a favor and get the Asus RT-N66R works perfect right out of the box and the range on both the 2.4 and 5ghz is MUCH MUCH better
For this, the WD actually a hard drive manufacturers and network technology has no real idea how qualified, for example, Netgear, I find my MyNetN900 for a first generation device pretty well.
Yes there are many many bugs but it was clear to me that will happen from the beginning, and so I have a bit of understanding for the slow firmware fixes.
As school rating I would give it a 3 (satisfactory), support a 4 (sufficient).
Greetings CrackXT
Hi,
My router is the MyNet N900 (non central).
I give it a +1 as I am satisfied with it.
As I write this, the router is up and running since over 20 days without a glitch.
The usual average time I have it up and running is about 24 days. But every 24 days it seems to “reboot” itself (ithout loosing the config !) so this is pretty transparent to me and I only notice it has rebooted when I check the “uptime”…
So a rather good opinion on this…
GOOD POINTS :
-
reliable
-
rather easy to configure
-
7 ports that come in to be quite handy to simplify the network
-
security options that are actually working to avoid my kids to get access to internet
WEAK POINTS :
- the use of the USB ports to share an attached hard drive… so I bought a NAS (LaCie 5Big 15Tb) that works more smoothly
-1 on my RMA
Newest firmware still has problems, but at least I do not have to manually reset it, now it resets itself. USB HDD speed is still slow, too many other problems to list here…
