Portable Drive all of a sudden became locked

Hello,

Please help, my WD Essential 500GB Portable Drive all of a sudden became locked.  It indicated I must run Drive Unlock program that indicated “There were too many password recovery attempts” however, I did not and do not have a password on the unit.

All was fine until I saved new photos which may have used the last of memory.  Now I can’t get to any of the data.  Very frustrating this situation, how can this unit be unlocked without losing data?

You can try running a test using DLG, you can also try connecting the Passport to another PC to see if the same thing happens, avoid using USB extension cables or USB hubs. Check the link below for more information.
