Problem connection to MyBookLive after changing router

I wonder if someone can help with the following. I have just changed my router from the one provided by my ISP. MyBookLive connects directly to the router via an Ethernet cable. Initially everything worked fine, but after I rebooted my Windows 10 PC, backups from that PC (using Bvckup 2) failed, being unable to find MyBookLive. On File Explorer on the PC the drive appeared as the Y: drive under “This PC” but with a red cross. I tried various things, including reinstalling MyBookLive (several times!). It was “discovered” ok, but the driver install always failed. I could find nothing of relevance in the manual. Finally I found a “Mount Public Share” option (somewhere!) clicked on it, and my problem was immediately resolved and my backups proceeded uneventfully. That was yesterday, but today my PC has again been rebooted and again I have lost the connection from my PC to MyBookLive. On File Explorer the Y: drive has disappeared, though MyBookLive still appears under “Network” and can be interrogated there. But now I cannot find the “Mount Public Share” option. What is happening and how can I resolve this problem? Thanks

Often when you change routers Windows will change your adapter’s connection profile from “Private” to “Public”. This will make Windows “undiscoverable” by other network resources (such as a NAS). You probably already know this and have taken care of it, but if you haven’t, …

Bring up the Settings page and select “Network and Internet”.
Select “Status” and click on “Change connection properties”.
Verify the “Network profile” is set to “Public”.
(This option used to be visible only if your UAC level was fairly low but I think that has been changed.)

Another possibility is that the NETBios Over TCP option has been disabled. This option is well buried in your network adapter properties but there are many descriptions on the web for locating it. (If I try describing the process here I’m sure to get it wrong.) Win10 defaults this option to “Automatic” and sometimes decides to automatically set it off. (The only documented reason I could find for automatically setting it off is if you give Windows a static IP address.) If you use a NAS you need to have this function on.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have tried both the “Private” and “Public” settings but still have the problem. A further mystery is that I have two PCs, both at the same version of Windows 10. One reconnects to the NAS after a reboot every time. In the other, after a reboot, I have to go to Network on File Explorer, then right click the MyBookLive icon, and click on the "Mount Public Share icon to effect a reconnection. Another observation is that when connected, the NAS is listed in the “good PC” with “MyBookLive” as its name (and the drive letter); on the “bad PC” it is listed with the IP Address (and drive letter). The is clearly a difference in the settings of the PCs, but so far I have failed to find it.

Do you, by any chance, have both of them called “MyBookLive”? That would cause trouble. You need to rename one of them.

There is only one MyBookLive, connected by Ethernet cable to my Wi-fi router. Both PCs can access the drive by Wi-fi, though one pc has the reconnection problem.
