Public Folder access problem!

WDMy Cloud connected to my Network thru ethernet cables via the router. I have 2 PCs windows 7- and 10 . And I have 3 Macs: Macbook 13 " Late 2008 Aluminum with Yosemite;

Macbook Pro 15" and iMac 21.5 " Mid 2011 with Yosemite also!

2 days ago I started to clean out my 13" to get it ready for resale, wanted to clone (used CCC) to copy certain files to my WDMyCloud 3TB. There already were folders with other media/docs on it, I thought I would use the "Public " folder for this purpose. It  took more 14 hours to transfer @150GBs of stuff (photos Music Videos etc.)

But since then I cant seem to enter the “public” folder thru the WD My Cloud app on my Macs! Or the thru website WD2go.com (which is down for upgrade purposes apparently).

But at the same time I noticed that I can see the contents of the WDMyCloud as a shared had drive thru the network; as Guest and open the “Public” folder and see all the previous items and the newly transferred 150 GB of folders from my Macbook!

When I go back to the WDMycloud app: it connects to the device; I can see all the folders including the “Public” folder. When I click on the other folders’ + sign next to them they all open and I can see all the files respectively; when it comes to clicking the + next to the “Public” folder it starts circling and nothing happens; actually the little circle keeps on turning & turning & turning withpout ever revealing the contents! If I dont tuen off the app it never stops turning!!!

I’ll try to upload screenshots:

And the screenshot of the folder under Shared drives in “finder”:

My question is: why am I able to see the contents in the Finder and not the “WDMyCloud” app ?

No idea. But my suggestion is to not use the software unless necessary.

I access my NAS via the build in tools for Windows/Macs. That way you will not depend on a 3rd party software ever not need to install any other software on my systems.

sorry but WD My CLoud = WD 's own software not a 3rd party!! I thought it would be compatible with itself no?

Yes, it ought to be compatible. But its function is limited compared to mapping the drive into your file system, and being able to treat it like any other disk drive, for all software, including Finder.

As for a fix to your problem, I might suggest a system-only restore; has your MyCloud upgraded its software recently…?

I refer to it as 3rd party, cause any OS has capability to use the NAS fully 100% without the need of additional software.
