Hello,
is there a way to get rid of the Public share? I don’t want to have a share that is accessable for everyone.
Kind regards,
S.

What do you mean by everyone? Only Users that you create and allow access can see what is in the Public Share/Folder. You do not have to use it.
Have you tried deleting it using the dashboard?
You can’t delete it. But you don’t have to use it. Just leave it empty.
Basically, it allows read/write access for all users that I have created. And I can’t remove it or change the permissions.
I have a number of users I just want to get read access to certain directories. But they all are able to store files on the Public share.
Why is it that way? What’s the purpose of that directory?

Hi
I have just tried to delete the public share and was not allowed, then I tried to rename it and was not allowed but after this the “public Access” slide became active so I switched off public access, the dashboard went into “updating” mode and locked up, after closing the the browser window I opened the dashboard again and was suprised to see that public access was off and I could change user rights to the folder!
To prove it worked I have just given myself “no access” and when connecting to WDMyCloud from my phone I cannot see the public Folder
probably the next restart or update will revert this back to default but I will wait and see

I am taking it that you’re first attempt to delete the Private Folder was by using the -folder. I clicked on that but canceled once the warning came up.
I tried your change name process and that worked for me too. I ended up turning it back on and now the switch is grayed out again. I don’t have any other users at this time though.

What happens when you go back to Users in the dashboard and click on a Users name? Can’t you make choices there under Share Access?
