Query on mapped drive

Used Discovery and mapped ‘Public’ to become Drive J: on my XP machine. All worked OK (path from assets database need to use J: to link to full-size pictures in the database.) Did the same on Windows 7 machine: all worked fine. Going back to the XP machine, it won’t now find Drive J:., it has to be given an alternative drive letter. Checked on another Windows 7 machine and it appears that it doesn’t like to have the same drive letter from each machine. The antique nerwork drive that the MyCloud Mirror replaces didn’t have a problem.

Have I missed something or can anyone point me towhere this issue has been covered?

No, you’ve missed something, though I don’t know what.

The Cloud is unaware of the “drive letter” you assigned on a windows box.   Neither do other WIndows computers.  The drive letter is only relevent to the local machine.

If you go to Windows Explorer and manually map the network drive (either under the Tools menu at the top, or browse to the MCM under the Network drop-down list on the left and map it via right-click) does it do the same thing?

Remember to set a tick against the Reconnect at logon box from the Map Network Drive window or else the mapping won’t survive a reboot. You may also need to use the Connect using different credentials tick-box below it, depending on whether you’re accessing a public or private share and what users/passwords are set up if the latter.
