Question about MyBook World and EX2

Hi all, a couple quick questions I can’t seem to find adequate answers on as I’m looking to update/upgrade my NAS storage. Currently I have a MyBookWorld NAS (white strip light) and my questions are:

  1. Can I insert the 1TB drive from this old unit into an EX2 and still be able to access the contents/files/folders, backups, etc. that are on the drive?

  2. Or would it be possible if the drive had to be reformatted?

  3. If the drive can be inserted and recognized in a EX2, could it be mirrored to a new larger drive in the other bay?

  4. Can the drives in an EX2 be of different sizes? ie 1TB & 2TB. Or, must they be identical in both bays?

  5. Is it really true that the EX2 Ultra does not support the other MyCloud app that the standard EX2 does?

  6. If I can’t insert the MyBookWorld drive into the EX2, how is the best way to move the contents of the drive over to the new one considering there isn’t USB?

Okay, hopefully that’s not too many…

This is not possible.Formatting the hard drive erases data. The WD My Cloud EX2 will need to build its own volume in order to be usable. As such, it will not accept a hard drive that has data from an unrelated RAID controller. Additionally, the unit only supports specific hard drive models.

Hard drives used with the WD My Cloud EX2 should be the exact same model for compatibility and stability reasons since RAID volumes are delicate.
