I have two HDDs: 4TB and 2Tb. I have created RIAD 1 with 2TB and spanning with the remaining 2TB. However, I hvae no idea how it works. How do I know when I am using RAID 1 and when SPANNING. How do I choose between them? Ideally, I would have two volumes: one for RAID and one for SPANNING so I can choose to save more sensitive data on RAID.
Explanation (link to more resources) is more than welcome.
You would have a volume number for each RAID. When creating a share it will ask you on which volume you would like to create it, just make sure that you know which volume is which. (Usually Volume 1 will be the first RAID that you created)
In my case I have a 5TB and a 2TB hard drives in WD My Cloud EX2 configured as RAID1. Because my second drive is 2TB My Cloud has created two volumes; Volume_1 for mirroring and Volume_2 for spanning.
I was trying to backup a USB drive to spanning portion (Volume_2). However, when I go to Backup > USB Backups > Create Job, I only find folders from Volume_1. How can I access Volume_2 or utilize 3tb space on volume_2?
