Hi there, I would have thought this to be a plug an play feature, but apparently it is way harden than I thought. QUESTION: How do I get access to my NAS outside my network as a share on the desktop of my MacBook?
The web interface and IOS apps are great and all, but I need my NAS to be accessible as a drive on the desktop of my Macbook, just like the AFP share on my Mac Pro at home.
I have tried NFS enabled, but to access. I tried FTP, but that only works without TLS (explicit or Implicit) and is DEAD-slow. Impossible to get a preview of a 80kb JPG image… and downloaded files are corrupt…
I tried ftptest.net with success (also with explicit), but on the remote Macbook no luck, only without TLS and to SLOW.
Enabled SSH for secure access, but SFTP only works with root user (or sshd).
This has a suitable speed, but for some reason I can’t get a SFTP share as a drive on my desktop…
I read all topics found here when searching for FTP remote acces, but why is this not a simple feature for a basic user to set up? Or should I have bought a Synology?
