I have a WD MY CLOUD which i can access via my iphone but when i try to connect to the cloud (which is at home) using the desktop software on my PC (at work) using my my cloud login it either can’t find it or fails to connect.
Is the above meant to work or can i only connect using say a laptop that has previously found the my cloud drive whilst on same network.
Probably your work place is restricting the access.
To test… get to know your home ISP ip (google what is my ip from home) and which port is opened on your cloud at home, usually 9080 and 9443. Several ways to find out like netstat, router logs, wdnas conf files or you can see from wd dashboard when you click configure near the cloud access under settings. Then from your work place PC, try to telnet eg. “telnet your-home-isp-ip 9080” see if you can get connected.
If that’s the case, try changing your wdmycloud incoming ports to common ones 80 and 443 see if it helps.
