Remove USB drive from my Cloud Home

Is it safe to remove USB drive from my Cloud Home by just unplug it from the device?

I would advise to do a safe shutdown of the My Cloud Home before removing the USB drive … that’s what i do with my WD My Cloud, better to be safe than sorry.

It could be very difficult to do that everytime you have to upload files throught usb port JoeySmyth. May be, it could helpful that developers add a usb eject option.

Powering down a device is “Very Difficult” ? … oh well, just rip the USB drive out i suppose … and hope it doesn’t cause any file corruption then.

Anyways, just remembered my WD My Cloud does have a Safely Eject option … maybe they’ll add one to the WD My Cloud Home one day ?

Assume that your product is multiple account. every shutdown will affect others.

We always wait that option and also the possibility to access a drive with specific IP address.
Thanks for sharing that picture; i don’t have My Cloud product. Technical support, it’s that what I’m waiting to MCH device.
Thanks again JoeySmyth

It looks like there isn’t a proper solution. May be I just have to take the risk to unplug in directly.

I have not as yet found a need for the direct connection since all my drives are attached to the PC. What do you use it for?

Surely you just pull the power plug on the Cloud and then unplug the drive

Thank you for all the responses. It really not user-friendly. :cold_sweat:
