I recently puchased the WDMYCLoudMirror and I am in the process of transferring all data and cleaning up. Unfortunately as part of setting up the MyCloud I did not realise I needed to turn on the Recycle Bin.
Today I tried to delete a single file but instead the whole folder got deleted.
Does anyone know if there is a way to restore deleted files on the MyCloudMirror?
I am running Windows 7 and 8 and have tried using a free software utility (Pandora Recovery) but unfortunately this software does not see the Cloud.
Did you enable the Recycle Bin? Each “Share” drive on the WD My Cloud has a Recycle bin, they are Off by default. Any files you delete will automatically goto the Recycle Bin (when enabled) If this was not done, only other way to recover a lost file is to use backup/recovery software to scan the entire drive for the file. Files are never lost/deleted unless they are re-written over.
You may also need to map the MCM drive under Windows Explorer before recovery software can see it. And indeed even then not all such software may be able to work with it, as some only seem to work with local physically connected drives and not remote/network ones.
Just did the same thing - deleted files but thru Roxio CD/dvd burner from the WD 3T external drive .Tried to delete a vidio file & it deleted the entire library . Is there a way to recover them from the hard drive ? Check or find a resore point on the drive to set it back to the time before it all got deleted? Please help -
