I am attempting to retrieve some backed up files from my Passport after a catastrophic disk failure on my old laptop. When I retrieve the files to my new laptop it completed successfully but the files on my new laptop are inaccessible to any of programs. It would seem to be a file ownership problem but I am unable to figure out how to make these files accessible. Any insight?

On the other hand, unless you have the exact same system structure (Including username) then restoring to “the original location” will result in a new folder withing Users with your old username. This folder can not be used by your programs since the old user profile does not exist in the new computer.
As such, the folder (And files) would need to be manually moved to the corresponding locations.
