Safepoint - cannot access drive

Hi All

sorry if this is a noob Q

I have a My cloud

I have just started the safepoint - local USB drive

i seem to have lost connections to my mapped drives which is a bit of a pita as i have quite a lot of data on the NAS so backups take a while

any thoughts much appreciated

thanks

Simon

Hello spike589715, welcome to the Community. Have you tried to ping the My Cloud to verify if it’s still recognized on the network? If it is, try to map it again using the network name or the IP address.

Hi Spike

The full safepoint backup always seems to take forever and probably makes the MYCloud unresponsive so I usually do this when I know that I will not need access for 24 hrs, however when you update the safepoint, only differences are saved so this is usually very quick.

Be warned you may not be able to restore from the safepoint using the dashboard so not as functional as it should be but as the files are stored as full files within their shares it is easy to restore manually after reconfiguring the MYCloud

Hi Guys

Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions

I am getting quite frustrated with the drive now - it is turning into a bit of a pain

I have

shut the NAS down - using the shutdown on the browser

plugged in a known good usb drive - powered etc

restarted the NAS

I can ping and connect via browser

I then go to run a safepoint and I get the message -

  • Unable to retrieve data. Make sure there are no network connectivity issues and try again. (200005)

I can still ping the box but have lost my mapped connection

basically i seem to have issues if I try to use the safe point

the Nas is on my giga byte network which seems to be working perfectly

I was hoping thei would be a good solution - that I could drop files on and back up to a HDD but it seems not at this time

thank you all for any hints tips or suggestions

additional

I have rebooted everything yet again

now when i click to create a safepoint - I get the message "waiting for safepoint " this has been up for a couple of hours now …

it has dropped the mapped drive so I cannot see any more - but I can ping it !

is it just me guys ?

thanks for any assistance

Simon
