Seeing My Cloud drive as a listed drive on Explorer (PC) or Finder (Mac)

I am able to see my drive using the My Cloud software however to use these files I can not use My Cloud as a drive. I must download a file to the local computer, use the file, then upload it back to the drive. For example, the My Cloud disk is not visible in Widows Explorer or Mac Finder so, when using a Word Document Word can not see the file. I must first download it locally. This is a big security risk for me especially when using a remote computer that is not mine. Is there a way for the disk that I see in My Cloud to be ‘mapped’ as a drive visible in Windows Explorer or Finder? This is similar to the functionality of Google Drive where the ‘cloud’ drive is simply available to me as is any other drive on my computer. My question is NOT about mapping the drive when it’s locally connected. I’m interested in mapping it via the web. Thanks.

Are you using the WD desktop app or going to wd2go.com?  Either way, I can see the shares and folders and files in my MyCloud and I can edit WORD and EXCEL documents and files w/o having to download them to my local machine first.  The application (ie Word and Excel) will load the files and allow me to use them all in one step.  Maybe I am not understanding your problem

www.wdmycloud.com does that.

There are limitations with Microsoft Office documents (because of how Microsoft Office handles WebDAV authentication) but otherwise it’s a mapped drive.

On my local computer- the one that the drive is attached to, yes- I can go to Explorer and see the drive as part of my network or map the drive. I’m talking about a remote computer in another location. Using the MyCloud application allows me to see the drive…but if I attempt to ‘open’ a file in a program (ex: Word) I can not navigate to that drive to open a file. The file is not visible to the computer- it’s only visible to the MyCloud app. When I’m in Explorer (or Finder on my Mac) I see my Google drive as I do any other folder on the computer. How is this done using the WD drive? Or, is it even possible?

Again, www.wdmycloud.com.    That does what you’re asking.
