Serious issue with the Public share - Need HELP!

I’ve had a MyCloud 4TB device for a few months now and been very happy with its performance and everything.

I use the Public share created by default to store all the movies and TV series I have so they can be shared on the WiFi.

Yesterday I decided to download the iOS application in order to stream on my phone (being lazy), it works fine and I can see all the files and stream properly. Since I have this application installed, I cannot access the Public share on my Windows 7 anymore, it says access denied. When I go to the web interface, the “Public Access” button has been set to OFF and is grayed out I tried everything I could to turn it back on I can’t; reboot, firmware upgrade, …nothing works. I read somewhere I can’t reset as there’s a risk to lose my files (around 2TB of movies), that would be catastrophic.

Searched the web everywhere, can’t find a solution how to turn public access back on; please help!

Are you able to provide an image of what you see when you look at the public share on the Dashboard?

Not sure how that got set to off.

I would do a system only restore, this deletes users, resetes default passwords and sets all shares to public and leaves data in place
