Shares are empty in Dashboard. Can't access them

Hello

I’ve had my MyBook Live 2TB for about a month after my other WD External (USB) crashed and I lost all my files.

Now it might be happening again  . The thing is, my network recognizes my MyBook and I can access it, but when I try to access the Public share or my own share, it says it doesn’t exist on the drive (Path not found).

If I check in Dashboard, it shows that both the shares are 0GB, even though at the bottom it says that there’s 500GB in use (all .Other though, it used to be .Video and .Music too).

How can I access my files again? It’d be a real bummer having two WD drives crash on me in half a year.

Did you try to press the reset button for 4 seconds?

Nope, that didn’t work. I can still see the drive but still no access to my shares.

I checked S.M.A.R.T. in SSH and it showed that Seek Error Rate and Off-Line Scan Uncorrectable Sector Count were higher than 0 (500 and 1000). I get a Input/Output error when I try to access the shares in SSH, so I think the drive is bricked.

I’m starting to lose faith in WD. Having two external hard drives crash on me within a month must be really bad luck or just bad hardware  .

If anyone might still know the problem, let me know. I’m going to buy a NetGear NAS.
