Hi, is there a simply guidance out there on how to add mycloud to Raspberry Pi?
I thought brilliant I could use upnp server but unfortunately this doesn’t show all files like srt etc.
I have googled a few places on how to do this via SSH but all failed!
So long as the My Cloud is on the same local network as the Pi one can simply mount the My Cloud Share on the Pi. By using “fstab” one can have that Share mounted at Pi boot/reboot.
If one is trying to use the My Cloud Twonky DLNA media server to stream media to the Pi then one first has to ensure they have Media Serving enabled on the Share(s) containing media on the My Cloud using the My Cloud Dashboard. Then one would use a DLNA client program on the Pi to stream the media.
There are numerous posts that can be found via your favorite search engine that detail how to mount a network share on a Pi. Some examples:
Surely it can’t be that simple of adding wd mycloud to kodi using LibreELEC via SMB.
I tried SMB on OSMC but couldn’t find wd mycloud. I even tried to used commands but failed .
If LibreELEC can find my wdcloud without adding commands then will give LibreELEC a go.
I gave up with OSMC. I am currently on Raspbian and about to give that up too because both can’t find my wdcloud.
Will LibreELEC still easily add wd mycloud if my folder is password protected?
It is for me, and my friends and family that have Raspberry Pi’s and My Clouds.
My friend has a couple of My Clouds and several older My Book Lives which he has no issues adding them via SMB shares on the Pi/LibreELEC setup.
If LibreELEC can find my wdcloud without adding commands then will give LibreELEC a go.
Remember to check the SMB Protocol Settings applicable to your LAN and Router.
LibreELEC has settings for SMB1, SMB2 and SMB3 (i don’t use OSMC, but maybe OSMC has them ? and you haven’t set them up ? … you need to running in “Advanced” mode to see them.)
Thanks JoeySmith!
LibreELEC is easier and faster to use than OSMC.
I can now eee my files and folders on my password protected folder using SMB.
Another problem I have is how do I add adancedsettings.xml into my userdata profile? This is because I have buffering problems when watching videos
Hmm … i’ve never had any buffering issues when streaming from my WD My Cloud to the Raspberry Pi 3 … i’m using an Ethernet Cable from a Gigabyte Swtich, but even before that, i used Powerline Ethernet Non-Gigabyte and it worked fine.
Check that you’re using Hardware Acceleration for Video Decoding in LibreELEC and also check your video files are not HEVC H.265 … while the RPi3 can decode and play them, they use Software Decoding. I accidentally downloaded a 1080p HEVC (H.265) video the other day, and it stuttered and buffered … re-downloaded the same video in 1080p AVC (H.264) and it played perfectly.
Thanks JoeySmith.
I’ve added advancedsettings.xml into LibreELEC and unfortunately didn’t make a difference .
Tonight I will try a lower quality video to see if that makes a difference.
I googled the buffering problem and I’m not the only one to have this problem. Some say use the public folder and it will work perfectly
