Ermmm… This is easy to do. See p23 of the User Manual. Likewise, mapping to Android file managers is easy; I use Cheetah Mobile File Manager, and it will automatically connect to the MyCloud.
The device can be expanded using the USB port.
Maybe the new ‘OS3’ will address your concerns about the interface concerns.
The Dashboard interface and the UI for the Android apps are easy believe it or not. Unless one is expecting options or features that are not present. Then the interface/UI is poor because it doesn’t do what someone wants or expected it to do.
> Anwsering concerns of users
Always a valid complaint of most companies these days.
> Adding chain capability to make you ‘cloud’ larger without completly rebuying (which no one will do after seeing how poor WD support is.)
Huh? One can expand the WD My Cloud storage by adding a USB external hard drive via the USB port on the back of the unit.
Perhaps you misunderstand what the WD My Cloud device is. It is not an online “cloud” storage service where one can buy/expand more storage space like Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, etc. It is a network attached storage device that has a fixed internal storage space like any other physical hard drive.
Quite a few complaints about how things work on the WD My Cloud stem from the user either not reading/understanding the product description of the WD My Cloud prior to purchasing it, or failure to read the WD My Cloud User Manual. There are some issues that are not the fault of the WD My Cloud, rather the fault of the Windows or Mac OS, yet people blame WD instead and want WD to fix what is a Microsoft or Apple problem. So many expect the My Cloud to do more (and blame WD when it doesn’t) than it was designed to, to have the capabilities of more expensive NAS devices, to have DropBox like features without having to pay for it.
