Hello, does anyone know if there’s a way to stop indexing photo and video thumbnails on MyCloud Home?
I’m not using this feature and would like to disable it so it won’t work for hours and hours everytime i upload new folders.
So, you don’t want your device to know where photo and video thumbnails are located?
Have you looked at the User Manual?
I would like to tell my device: this is a family photos folder: index it and show in photo section in app; this is a work images folder: don’t index it and don’t show.
I’ve read the manual but can’t find any information on this.
This information may be a little dated but it is directly from WD Staff and the indexing function may not have changed since the inception of the My Cloud Home since 2017.
It may be possible to avoid indexing by using the Public folder as MCH seem to treat that folder as a backup area and not common file storage. Alternatively, it is also quite easy and faster as well to mass copy files into a compressed (zip or 7z) folder such that those files are not detected to be indexed. Files within zip files can be viewed directly with something like Faststone Maxview.
