Hi I am having trouble with my Cloud EX2 Ultra. I have it plugged into a closed LAN running Windows 7. I can ping the drive, and open up the dashboard in Internet explorer. On the network page it shows it in the “Storage” area. However, when I try to map the drive, the EX2 isn’t listed as an option.
The drive itself is plugged directly into the Router.
I see in my local computer that there is a driver error.
I can’t go online with this network and I can’t find anywhere to download drivers so I can manually install them.
Any hints as to how to map this thing on my LAN so I can use it as a network drive (I don’t care about all the cloud features)?
There may be specific answers related to your device in the dedicated EX2 subforum (link to that subforum posted by previous user) as this subforum is generally for the single bay My Cloud devices.
Not being able to go on line with the network may present some issues with the My Cloud units. It may present issues with the device being unable to obtain a correct time (NTP) and possibly other issues (like DNS and firmware updates).
If using Windows File Explorer one should check to see if they are selecting the wrong My Cloud listing. There may be two or more My Cloud listings, one being the My Cloud file server, the other being the My Cloud media server (DLNA). Icons typically look like this:
My Cloud file server:
My Cloud media server:
For mapping/copying files to/from a My Cloud one should use the file server My Cloud icon.
I don’t get either of those icons (file or media), I get a box that looks like a server under the heading “Storage.” I think part of the problem may be faulty drivers, but I can’t seem to find them online. What annoys me is that this NAS didn’t come with software like my other network’s NAS drive.
Can you post a screenshot of what you see? It may help others assist.
Edit to add: As to software, check the WD Support site Download section for your My Cloud model. That is where you will find additional software (if any) for your device.
