Sudden My Book disconnect

Hi All,

I don´t know whether to be concerned or not, but recently, my My Book Home 1TB External drive, will all of a sudden disengage. You hear the sound of a USB port being disengaged and the icon disappears. Sometimes it automatically re-engages by itself – the sound of a USB port engaging is heard and the icon comes back – but sometimes I have to restart the computer to have it re-engaged. Knock on wood, it has never failed to re-engage with a restart. Is this something I should be worried about? What does this mean?

Hi there, if I were you I’d change the cable and then run a test on the drive. You can use DLG from WD’s web page and check your drive status. And just in case, make sure to have a backup of your data!
