Hello - I just bought a new 4 TB MyBook World Edition II and set it up on my home network connected to the main router. The performance of the system is unbelievably slow though and I can’t figure out why. File transfer rates to the drive are around 10 kbps (yes, that’s 10 kilo, not mega) on my normally very fast network at home. Further, even simple menu clicks on the admin interface often take 15 secs to respond. I’m guessing I’ve got something set up wrong…help!
Do you have anything else running on the network? Have you tried plugging it into a different network to rule out an issue with the drive itself?
Have you updated the drives firmware ? if you did and still same issue then
What is your raid configuration ? If it is Raid 1 config. then replace the unit and rebuild your raid with one of the drives
My network works just fine otherwise… the other aspect I’ve noticed is that my desktop that’s hard wired to the network will see speeds of up to 10 mbps which is at least respectable but the wireless will only get around 1 mbps max.
BTW - i stream netflix etc on my wireless and it works just fine so i don’t think that the wireless is the bottleneck per se.
Was this ever solved, I’m also having these exact issues with my MBWE. This is driving me insane! Sorry for reviving a dead post, I just don’t know what to do anymore…If so PLEASE share, thanks.
turns out that my drive had one faulty HDD, out of the two. Had to return the unit…am going to look for a different one now.
