Surround sound issue

Hi, New to the boards so Hello. Anyways, to business… Got my hub connected via HDMI to my Onkyo TX-SR 605 receiver (hub is in HDMI 1 & PS3 is in HDMI 2). Receiver is HDMI Out to my tv. Settings in the instruction manual show a drop down list when I select digital passthrough yet i don’t get this option via the unit. Also i only get sound from any file be it .avi , .mkv if i select Stereo via the hub’s set up… digital passthrough gives me picture but no sound so am curious as to what i’m missing here, if at all anything. Any helps will be most welcome, Thanks.

go to Setup

Audio/Video Output

Audio Output

Digital Pass Through via HDMI Only

you can select Auto detection or setup manualy audio pass through

check manual of your receiver for best settings

I don’t have the HDMI Only option in the settings, all i get is the choice of Stereo, Digital Passthrough or Digital Passthrough Via Optical. Howv do i get it to auto detect? Oh, hub is “out the box”, have not updated the firmware yet.

Check your receiver setup settings, it may be the culprit.  Make sure you assigned your input in the receiver, audio tv out is off.

Receiver shouldn’t be the problem as was running a WD HD TV Box up until last week, merely unplugged it from the HDMI lead and connected the Hub, so as getting picture no problem and Stereo sound gets through i’ve got to assume that all is assigned correctly. Am proper stumped on this… will the firmware update fix it or have i got myself a duff box?

You should´t have any problems with receiver. Just check manual for best pass through option.

Sorted, it was the “out the box” firmware… updated the firmware and everything is now surround sound tastic. Just got to work out now, after the update, the hub no longer picks up any media on my external drive.
