I recently disconnected my Passport for Mac for about ten days when travelling and reconnected it upon my return. At first, the Passport icon did not appear on my desktop. Therefore, I erased the disk (as suggested in the manual), and restarted. Now the Passport icon does appear, the external drive’s light flashes slowly, but when I trey to back up my time machine, I get a notice saying: “Backup Disk Not Available.” Any ideas about how I can make the backup disk available to Time Machine?
Hello dschimme,
While re-formatting the drive what is the file system that you selected?
For Time Machine to backup on your My passport drive, you need to make sure the drive is formatted with Mac OS extended journal file system or HFS+.
