I’m trying to restore my Mac’s hard drive replacement with Time Machine stored on my My Cloud. TM is located in the “Public” sector of My Cloud’s drive. I have reset passwords, etc. and am able to get to and read other data on the drive. When I go to the Apple’s “Restore” routine, I get a message that tells me that I have an IP problem and to see my Administrator.
I have been using the drive with an Apple WIFI modem. The MyCloud was attached to it via an ethernet cable.
I am not sure as to how static ip/DHCP fits in with this arrangement.
The computer for which this backup is needed has a new hard drive replacement.
I have tried the Time Machine restore with MC attached to the WIFI modem and also with the ethernet cable attached directly to the computer. From Apples OS 10.5 I am able to get to other files saved on the MC.
The problem arises when trying to utilize Apple’s restore sequence which is activated by command/R held during the boot sequence. the exact error statement is:
"There is a problem connecting to the server WDMyCloud.local.
Check the server name or IP address, and then try again. If you continue to have problems, contact your administrator."
