Should i update with the latest …have they fixed all the buggs with 4,0?let me know your thoughts …thanks !

Hello,

Take a look at the release notes for information regarding the firmware update.

http://support.wdc.com/download/notes/WD_My_Cloud_Firmware_Release_Notes_4.00.01-623.pdf?v=7946

I still remember vividly having to debrick my WDMC4TB in July. Apart from the nag to update, mine works to my complete satisfaction as it is, so I’m not bothering.

That being said there are not many complaining of issues on here at the moment, so maybe it isn’t a repeat of July’s fiasco. Maybe sometime - but not yet for me!

Looks as exciting as the release notes that came with the previous update… That almost led me to return the product…
Difference is now I’m at 80petcent and don’t care for reloading or messing around for hours.
Just want to know that the update works as the product should from tried and tested members of the community.
Thanks.

We are obviously from the same school sailing the same class boat in the same conditions… Sure there are many many others too.

I upgraded, no new problems data transfers are bit quicker and the Dashhboard a bit quicker as well.

If you are happy with what you have I would leave it I just could not resist upgrading.

Just took the plunge even though I was in a similar position to you guys having spent hours messing around trying to get it in a decent state.

Just updated successfully but will wait before I start doing any performance testing and such since It’s currently rebuilding the Twonky database.

Seems ok to me, I have not spent much time looking at it which is a good thing as I haven’t seen any issues yet

Stupid me. Decided to go ahead after all. Ejected and disconnected my attached USB HDD and let the update take its course without any interference. Nothing worked like it did any more, and dashboard access was near impossible.

I’ve reapplied the update via SSH, and it seems a little bettter but the dashboard is sooooo slow.
I’m sure I’ll get it working well again, eventually, but I really wish I hadn’t bothered to mend something that wasn’t broken.

Keep in mind — they run slow after EVERY update.

The databases are rebuilt, media re-indexed, etc.

Once that is done, normal speeds will be back.

Yes, I’m being patient, another 24 hours before I start getting REALLY upset!

Let us know nicktee55.

Well, it’s “recovered” over the past 12 hours or so.

One thing that’s really annoyed me though is that it refused  to recognise my safepoint on a USB drive, so I’ve had to start all over again - that’s going to take about 4 days; also the rebuilding of the Twonky database has taken ages, even though the media content is exactly the same as before.

Why can’t WD be up front about this? There’s nowhere in the manual that states functionality may possibly be limited during the first 24 hours after updating due to the housekeeping tasks that need to be done, and I surely cannot be the only one that this has happened to. I wouldn’t mind being told, then I’d be able to schedule the update accordingly.

Twice bitten now, if it ain’t broke…:confounded:

I don’t have a connected usb HDD but I didn’t have a database rebuild after my FW upgrade and my device is full of photos music etc,

Strange !

Perhaps WD have programmed each My Cloud with its own personality - maybe there’s even male and female ones :stuck_out_tongue:
