Transfer from windows do mac

Hi!

I made a backup of my dell laptop and I`d like to transfer the content for the mac. How do I do that?
Is the only way to make the wd external drive work on make restoring it and setting it again? Because then I’ll loose everything on it.

The drive will be readable by the Mac with no issues.

However, you will not be able to write to the external drive on the Mac until the drive is formatted to work with that OS.

Transfer the data and then format to the file system that better suits your needs.
