Transfer Speed over Network

I’ve read couple threads about the low transfering speed and I need to ask for an advise.  My live hub is connected to the router (netgear) by wire.  When I start transferring files from my laptop (i tried both wireless and wired connection) the first 10-15 sec it shows speed of about 5-10 Mbs, but within next 30-60 sec it drops donw to 200-300 kbs only.  I called WD support and they suggested to exchange the unit and I did.  But I have the same issue with another device.

I tried many things (changing ports on the router, changing cables, etc.) - nothing simple helps.  But I think the problem is in Live Hub device because I don’t have any issues when I transfer files same way from my laptop to another computer in the network or to Iomega external network harddrive.

Does anybody have an idea of what I might be doing wrong or how to fix the problem?  Everybody says 10Mbs is slow - well, I would be happy to have 10Mbs!!!

Thanks in advance!

I’m getting around 2Mb/s on a wireless connection - it was around 6-7Mb/s when hardwired, but I opted for esthetics rather than speed

So I’m still moving stuff using a USB from time to time. At least then, I’m getting around 15Mb/s.

Try using Teracopy (free), it may give you more consistent speeds.

Problem could be that you are using a 10/100 network.

Hard to get more than 9mb. real speed on a wired network.

Wireless can be worse.

If you have 2 LAN connenctions on your PC then try to connect it directly to your PC and check the speeds.
