Transfer Speed

Hello all,

what is the speed you are getting on a local network with your WD MyCloud?! I get 12mb/s write and 16mb/s read?! Is this normal, acceptable?! Also, I am copying large files from the drive localy on my computer and I get transfer rate of 1.5mb/s. Isnt this bit slow?!

I would have to say it depends on how you are connected to your My Cloud.

Below is a image of mine uploading a file (wifi) and it shows the speed.

I did some downloads (wifi) to see what my speeds are and it was about the same as above up to a little over 6MB/second.

My, My Cloud, is connected to my router with a CAT6 cable, Gigabit connection, green light on rear of My Cloud and router. My computers, network media player, and cell phone are connected by wifi or 3G.

As mentioned previously, it depends on your equipment. For best results, use gigabit router, your pc should also have a gigabit network port and connected via a gigabit cable as well. You should get something like this:

write

WIFI

Over Wifi (on Ipad mini) I get approx. 3MB/s. read/write. wifi depends on your signal strength. This was taken 3 rooms away from the router at 34% signal strength, So it has potential to treble the speed sitting next to the router.

hth

my set up is:

my cloud   —cat6---->  gigabit router   —cat6---->  PC

for large file: (e.g. 500 mb)

40- 50mb / s

for small file

3-6 mb /s
