Trouble accessing MyCloud drive locally

Is it possible to access my drive locally instead of through the web?

I thought I had set everything properly but yesterday we were having internet issues and I couldn’t acess the files on my drive. When the internet came back on I was able to access the drive again. So I did an experiment and unplugged the incoming internet cable from the wall to the router, but left the router and other ethernet cables plugged in. I was not able to access the drive.

I was expecting it to just mount on the Mac desktop like my other hard drives without having to go online to transfer a file.

I’m probably missing something basic about how this works.

Any help appreciated.

Yes, you can access the drive as long as it is connected to your local network, without needing access to the Internet.

On a Mac, you should see the drive on the network, and in the shared section of the finder left navigation window.
