My internal hard drive is a 2.0 TB WD Caviar green. I use this in conjuncture with my SSD to store my programs and some files last night i went to get into a game and all the links are dead. I pulled the drive and tried to get it up and running with no success. i was told i should replace the PCB board, and i was wondering if this is still possible with this type of drive. Where would i go to get the correct pcb board?
Unfortunately, you can’t just buy a PCB board. These drives are individually tuned when they leave the manufacturing line. So, another PCB board from the same model drive may not even work on it.
Is the drive making any unusual noises when you connect it? Also, does it show up in Disk Management, but not in Computer? If so, it may have been corrupted.
Bill no when i plug it into my computer there is no spin up or detection from the computer i used an external hook up as well and there was no spin up there either
Are there any burn marks on the PCB board of the drive?
The discoloration is normal. I was checking that you didn’t have a power surge. Unfortunately, you are left with data recovery. That’s if you really need the data on the drive.
how do i go about that? there is sensitive data on there
I work in the IT field
If it’s one of our partners, they focus on extracting the data, not reviewing it.
