Hi, I have just bought a TV Live Hub and am really happy with its performance.
I have a Samsung TV on my network an while the hub streams fine to it, I am a bit disappointed that I cannot see the movie.jpg thumbnails associated with each movie. This must be to do with Twonky as I get the same routing via my PS3.
Is there any way of turning these on? I can see no facility in the Twonky setup.
Thanks…
From what I’ve read while looking this up before when trying to stream DLNA from the HUB to my tablet, smartphone, smart TV is that the HUB runs an older version of Twonky (based on a version 5 I believe, exact version I can’t remember right now) but you need Twonky 6 or higher to be able to do that.
I think a lot of people have requested this functionality for a while now but there doesn’t seem to be any info on a Twonky update.
Sorry.
I believe you can still make thumbs show up inside a folder as folder.jpg and every file in that folder will use that thumbnail but actual folders will not have thumbnails nor can you have different thumbnails for files in the same folder i.e. Multiple episodes of a series in the same folder with different thumbs for each episode.
Thanks Tobin,
I have version 5.1.9 - strange that a new hub with the latest firmware has a (really) old version of Twonky.
I would upgrade if I was savvy enough to work out how to install the latest version of Twonky on the hub.
Using the suggested folder.jpg method may work but will add another folder layer to layout of the GUI on the TV the hub is plugged into. Thanks anyway…
Jack:  5.1.9 wasn’t very old when the hub was created.
Twonky limits third-party vendors to very specific versions – WD isn’t free to update at will.
Yeah thanks Tony,
I just feel frustrated that there seems no way to buy the latest versions of Twonky from either WD or Twonky to upgrade on my hub (unless anyone knows different!). I think there would be a market there.
I could download the computer version but that defeats the object of having the hub as my media server!
Oh well, I suppose I should focus on watching movies instead of staring at their icons…
