I recently purchased the 3TB My Cloud. On my remote device (Windows 7 laptop) I have mapped a network location for the device. It is easy to move files, but when it comes to saving files I am constantly promoted with the Windows security box to enter my login and password. I enter the information and than I am promted to enter the inforamation again. I have checked the remember credentials and I am still prompted with the same box. I am doing something wrong. I am seriously considering returning.
No, this device is not that easy.
If you use private shares you get this problem. Until now I also didn’t find a solution.
If you make all of your shares public you won’t have this problem (but maybe other problems you will have).
Heavy, is this happening with ALL documents, or just specific kinds?
I know, for example, that Microsoft Office 2007 (and later) will not work.
I am running Office 2010. So far I haven’t had any luck saving any type of MS file (Word, Excel, Power Point).
Yep-- there you go. The additional security imposed by MS Office isn’t compatible with WD 2go.
I purchased the 3TB My Cloud. Is there a difference between WD2Go and My Cloud? If you can’t save files such as MS Word or Excel directly to the cloud how is this truly a cloud? This whole experience has been frustrating. I also sent a message to WD and have not heard back from them.
You shouldnt be editing important documents directly from the my cloud. If you get connection issues then it may not save correctly. Always save locally first, then move the file over to the My Cloud. WD2go is your remote account, so wherever you are, you can connect to your My Cloud as long as you have internet access.
