Unable to access Private shares with wd2go remote access

I have set up wd2go on my duo and when i use it remotely, i can only access open public shares. I cannot access the password protected private shares on the MBL. I have switched some of the private shares to public, and then no problem accessing them, but i don’t want to keep them open public. I need some way of having password protected private shares on my home network, which also can be accessed remotely by the same registered users.

When you registered WD 2go, you associated the WD 2go account with a specific MBLD user. You need to ensure that user has access to the specific share.

thanks for your response.

When i registered with wd2go, I registered as admin. As admin i have permission to view all the shares. However, when i use wd2go as admin, i am unable to access the private shares.  I can access them just fine through a windows connection, but not with wd2go.

I just added a test share to my MBLD and I can see the new share (also Admin) via both WD2go.com and the iOS apps.

Keep in mind, that “admin” doesn’t have access to all shares by default; you still must allow the admin user to access specific shares.  Are you doing that?

I have a private share setup called Speak.  Using the MBL browser-based GUI, under the ‘shares’ menu, i have selected the particular share called Speak. I see that the user ‘admin’ has a check beside it and also that the column with the little pencil has been selected for this user (the user admin has full access to the private share).

Regardless what the GUI says, i cannot access the MBL private shares with wd2go, though i can access with Windows or Mac through the home network.

I installed the WD MBL setup software on my Windows machine and it would not install properly. It said that it could not get access to the Settings of the MBL.  Strange because with the browser GUI i can make all the changes i wish.

Ok, i found the problem.

I had a set of hacks on my MBL called FeaturesPackManager.  So i re-installed the latest firmware, which in the process deleted the hacks, and now the wg2go feature allows me to access the private shares.

Ahhh.  Thanks for following up with the fix.
