I’m setting up My Cloud on my new Windows10 after having used Windows7.
It has become pretty infuriating as the WD taken on a life of it’s own. Trying to set up the new PC with the My Cloud I was asked to enter my Username and “Credentials”.
As I have never set any credentials and having been kicked off the WD HDD I almost gave up. I rebooted and then all of a sudden without asking for any Password or credentials I was connected. Then the same thing happened after I tried to set up connection on my phone. Rebooting - credentials - Username etc.
Finally yesterday I was online again and everything worked.
The joy was short lived Today I wanted to access my files via my PC and again I’m asked tor Username and Credentials. Connecting via my smartphone works, but slowly and I have access via web interface. The WD Quick View Desktop app is downloaded, but nothing happens when clicking the icon. WD Smart ware opens but no access to My Cloud.
@Deepthroat
First, go to Credential Manager in the Control Panel and see if anything for your My Cloud exist there. If it does delete/remove it and that should stop you from being asked for your crendentials.
I removed what there was in Credential Manager under Control Panel.
When I right click the WD Quick View icon I get Run as administrator, Open file location, Pin to… Even Run as admin does not open anything.
Windows Workgroup. You need to make sure your MyCloud and any Windows devices are set to use the same workgroup. Google the subject for further information.
The credentials you require are your MyCloud username and password.
cat0w and cpt_paranoia thanks.
The WD really has a life of it’s own. Sitting up late last night and trying it all re-boot, re-set, re-install and nothing worked - I finally gave up.
Then this morning I did a 40 sec reset again and voila
