Unable to initialize new drive - 4TB WD Black

I just installed a 4TB Black WD drive that I intend to use as a secondary drive in my W10 computer.

When trying to initialize it in the Windows Disk Management App, I choose to create a GPT partition and I get this error message: “The request cound not be performed because of an I/O error”. It is connected to a SATA 3 6GB/s port.

How can I fix this ?

Additional information:

The BIOS doesn’t see the drive. The system board is an ASUS P8Z77-V-LX. It supports 2 SATA 3 drives. The first one is a SSD boot drive, the second one is the new WD 4TB I am trying to install. I find it strange that Windows can see the drive while the BIOS can’t…
