Unable to play subtitles on WD Live

Hello,

I ma trying to play subtitles with my WD tv live with no luck… well, sometime it works for certain movies…

for the others, it does not…

first thought it is related to the subtitle itself so i got subtitle workshop and converted the srt file to .SUB,.idx, with no luck… the files am trying to play are MP4.

going through the play menu, subtiles always shows no subtitles.

my WD is uodated to the latest availbale firmware.

Thanks,

Are you playing via network share or from a media server?

If these are internal subs, I thought there was an issue where internal subs aren’t supported in an .mp4 container (but I could be remembering wrong).

If these are external subs, are the movie file and the subtitle file named _ EXACTLY _ the same?  And in the same folder?

Yeah, internal subs in MP4s get ignored by the Live players.

External subs will work via network share.

External subs will fail via media server, because external subtitles are not part of the DLNA spec.

Well, it is external subtitles… i tried to convert to all known subtitles with no luck… sub, srt, etc…

anyway, if there’s no solution to play them directly from an attached USB HDD - Media Server - , does any suggest an application which i use to let the player play the subtitles…  something to add these subtitles wo the MP4 file (DLNA) without re-enconding the whole movie?

Thanks,

SRT subtitles should work no problem from a USB HDD.

What language are they?

Well i tried both English and Arabic Subtitles… anyway, i think it doesn’t depend on the subtitles language cuz worst case, it will display some gybrish if it can read them…
