Unlocking external WD drive!

Hi everyone,

I’m connecting an external locked WD USB Ultra drive (2TB) to my EX4 on the latest firmaware, but I’m constantly receiving 2 errors:

Unsupported File System
An unsupported file system has been detected on a USB device (vendor Western_Digital, model: My_Passport_0820, serial number: xxxxxxxxxxxx, file system: N/A, label: N/A) Code:1121

USB Device May Fail
A USB device is facing imminent failure (vendor: Western_Digital, model: My_Passport_0820, serial number: xxxxxxxxxxxx) Code:1124

The drive is locked using WD Security utility (on latest update) that ships with the portable drive.  According to WD knowledge base locked drives can be unlocked via the dashboard on EX4, though I couldnt locate that option.

Any help is apreciated.

Thanks,

-Gus

Hi gus99, from the EX4 dashboard try clicking on the USB icon that shows up in the upper right corner when you connect a USB device.

Hi Jubei04,

Unfortunately it says “There are no USB devices found.”  I also have WD Quick View installed, it will usually show if there are any attached USB devices connected to the EX4.  But also in this case it shows nothing.

When I remove the password on the portable drive (via WD Security), then it appears on the EX4 dashboard with no issues.

Just a note that the problem was resolved after I tried to reboot the EX4 while the Passport drive was connected, and now I was able to unlock it via the dashboard and all is fine.
